I run two or three groups in my math class. They all have individual packets of material to work on independently which include directions to work with certain manipulatives or games. These are designed to be at their practice/introduction challenge level. Then I work with small groups on specific skills during the hour making sure each student gets time during the week for new intsruction. I usually do a whole class warm-up actiivty. I alternate this with a week or two of direct instruction on new topiccs. It is labor intensive, but I feel I meet most needs this way.
