Tips for hanging in there (LONG message)
By Dawn

Contract situation is a bummer. Be very proactive with union about your options and consequences - find out all the details and then decide what is best for you. I don't know your financial situation obviously, but talk to
your doctor about whether disability might be an option. I know for many readers this may sound totally outrageous, but dealing with depression is a horrendous burden and it sure sounds like you are on the edge.

Some ways to try to relieve stress/anxiety.
Exercise! Right after school and then again before you go to bed. It actually produces chemicals in the brain that counters imbalance

brought on by stress.

Pamper yourself - I found music with bubblebath very relaxing before bed - plus the cooling off after a bath sets your body up for sleep. For any kind of gifts, ask for things like massage certificate, etc., outings

Socialize, socialize, socialize. Hard to do when fatigued, but ask people over if it is too much to get your act together to go out. Depressed people tend to isolate themselves. Doesn't have to be a major event, but put a time limit on the venting and then enjoy. Same afffect as exercise.

Laughter is good medicine (produce the right kind of endorphins) If you must watch TV - rent very funny videos /DVDs - the belly aching kind (I like Carol Burnett shows - very funny)

REDUCE the amount of time you are doing school work! Why? because it is a viscious downward cycle. More time spent = less productive leads to even more time spent on work = even less productive - break the cycle, it will help.

Last, but most importantly, find a good therapist to talk to - mine was a god send.

Good luck.
