Clean up time is tough at the beginning of the year. I really stress clean up time shows we can take care of materials - it shows we take pride in our environment. IF things aren't cleaned up properly, I don't let those materials out the next day, because they were not cared for. I usually only have to do this once or twice. Then I don't have a problem, but we continue to point out how wonderful it is to have pieces to things and to have a clean a room!
