play centers
By Stacia

Clip to ScrapBook
Since they probably have alot of drill stuff during their day, I'd try a different approach. I'd set up play centers and facilitate play with these children. Assess their play levels - my guess it they are not able to engage in language mediated play experiences. When they are - they will be more receptive to formal letters and sounds. Provide writing props in the play centers - for example a restaurant theme where the children create menus, take orders, make signs, etc. Have them create road maps with signs in the block area and create a publishing center where they can write and publish their own books.
