I clip the lower right hand corner of all pages that have no mistakes. If students have mistakes, they can easily see where to find them, as those pages will be sticking out as a square corner. Also, I can easily tell which pages the students were supposed to have corrected the next time I take up the books for marking. I clip the corrected pages only after the corrections are "right". I have found that this helps both the kids and me, as we both can see at a glance what needs to be done. As for slow workers, they stay in to work on assignments, even though sometimes this seems more of a punishment for me than an incentive for them. I seldom have had success in sending incomplete work home, so getting them to do it instead of recess and free time seems to be the only way to get it done.
