One of the things that I can think of that I do on a regular basis with my students is to identify mistakes...namely, adult mistakes, so they are mostly mine! I make a game out of it and reward students who can find my mistakes, both the honest ones and the ones I deliberatley set up for them to find. I hope that I provide a comfort level so that all the kids are willing to try, even if they are not always correct.
