Here in New York By Victoria
|
| Actually, here in New York you don't have to be certified to teach. If you're only willing to teach in a cushy suburb, you need the certificate. If you will go to an area termed "high needs," in New York City, you can be a Teaching Fellow. Granted, the interview process is extremely rigorous, and you are required to teach a model lesson to get in to the program, receive training, go through student teaching, and take a master's degree in education. You are also required to pass the same tests (the LAST and the CST) as all the certified teachers.Let's remember that not every job is one with fifty people competing for the spot. In areas where beggars (the schools) can't be choosers, they may hire un-certified people because the un-certified people actually *want* to work there.
