    Management

I too am a specialist, I see students for 55 minutes once a week for science. My management style is pretty much, 'you either behave or you don't participate'. Since my class is 99% hands on the thought of not participating is crushing. Oh, I do have small issues and those children are told to stand near a clock and watch the second hand go around for one to several minutes depending on the infraction.
Many of the classroom teachers that bring me their students already have their own management system in place (many use a point system) and they ask me to piggie back off that which is fine and generally the kids get all the points as they're pretty good for me. Why not ask the classroom teachers what they use although it will vary from teacher to teacher.
I never use treats by the way, but that's my personal preference. Being a specialist if you start down that reward path you're putting a great deal of money into it as you see way too many kids.
Let me know your specialty area and I can give you more specific ideas for your area.
