that a LOT of places in the US do not recognize Columbus Day? As far as calling these people racists, what grounds do you have for that? I don't think that makes people racist. It's my opinion that although Columbus may have discovered America, he certainly wasn't the first to live here and he was a pretty violent and mean individual. If we didn't celebrate it by having a day off work, I would be just as complacent. Frankly, I think MLK Jr. did a heck of a lot more than Columbus ever did ... that's a day to celebrate.
