Also Teacher Aids as "no Shows"/No Help
By BSJ

Clip to ScrapBook
Also I am sure that, as I have, many of us have experienced situations when we substitute teach that there is supposed to be a Classroom/Instructional Aid/Assistant in the classroom either as 1-on-1 or to help the inclusion
kids. My experience has been that about half the time they are no shows or when they are in the classroom they do not help. I realize that they do not want to step on my toes, but take some initiative or when I or the kids ask -- help the students who need help. That is why they are there. They know the kids better than I do.

Then there are those rare (thankfully) situations when

the Aid/Asst. will take over & run the show. That is somewhat fine -w- me in a self contained spec. ed. classroom, but NOT in a regular ed classroom. We are adults & should work together for the common goal to have a good day & to teach.

Yet, most of the time, I have had good experiences & the Aid/Asst. is helpful.
