pronoun lessons
By doretta

Clip to ScrapBook
One of the things i do with my students is give them a familiar story with all of the pronouns replaced with the approproate noun. I have them take turns reading it aloud then ask them if it sounds right to them. We then
discuss pronouns and their jobs. I then have them rewrite the story using pronouns. I don't give them an exact number of pronouns to use, but I do remind them that nouns are sometimes important for clarity. (For that lesson I give them sentences with too many pronouns and no nouns...boy, does that get confusing!) I also play KABOOM! with them using various parts of speech words. Random words
on cards, they choose the cards one at a time and tell me what part of speech it is. If they're right, they get a point, if they're wrong they get no point. the game continues until someone gets the "KABOOM!" card. That person loses all of his or her points, and the others continue...etc.
