Center board
By Jenna

Clip to ScrapBook
I don't have pictures of my board but I'll try to explain... Going vertically on the left hand side I have 5 groups. Each group is heterogeneously mixed, with about 4 - 5 kids in each group. (Each name is in the color
of their actual reading group that they are in.) Next to each group is the name of one center, (Listening, Poetry, Word Work, Pocket Chart, etc...) Beginning each day all I have to do is move the card with the groups' names on it down. And the bottom one goes to the top etc... After about a week or two or when the children get the hang of centers, you can add another rotation of centers
NEXT to the first center, (which is next to each group). For example...if Sue, Pat, Kris, and Liz are in one group, there 1st center would be Listening. Next to Listening, would be Blocks, which they would go to on their 2nd rotation. If this is too confusing, take a look at Guided Reading, by Fountas & Pinnell... That's where I got the idea. I use words and the kids understand it, you may want to use pictures, which are in the book mentioned above also... OKAY? I hope you can understand this... good luck
