no show and tell here

I only teach a half day class. There is just not time for 'show and tell' and my experience is that at this age they are not really mature enough to sit and listen to others for that long. I too encourage and often assign things to be brought in that relate to our themes I take a little time within that context for a child or two to share what they brought but that is it. Sometimes a child on their own will bring in something very unique and I might spend some time with them/class discussing it. ie; binoculars, microscope, maps, vacation pics of unusual places etc.

Just nicely tell the parent you don't have a formal show and tell, if they want to bring the animal in , perhaps recess would be good, or the last five min of class?
