Letter Boxes
By Kelly K

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach 4 year old kindergarteners and they love our "letter boxes". Each week when I introduce a new letter, I put out a new letter box. The outside of the box is decorated with pictures of things that start with the letter, words that start with the letter, and with the letter itself. This week was "L" and inside was a leaf, lotion, leash, lipstick, and lace. When I introduce the objects I exaggerate the beginning sound. They stay on our shelves for the kids to explore during free time. When I observe them playing with it, I have overheard them exaggerating the letter sound...l-l-l-l-l-lotion!
