Here's an easy one
By Krissy

Clip to ScrapBook
I use sentence strips or index cards (doesn't really matter). I write root words and suffixes separately on the sentence strips and put them into two baskets (each basket is labeled). I then have a worksheet that is categorized by the different suffixes we are working on. The children are asked to make words (take one strip from each basket and put them together) and fill up the sheet. When they are finished, I ask them to write at least 5 sentences using some of the words they created. This has worked well for me with prefixes, suffixes and compound words in 2nd grade. Hope this helps.
