I teach 2nd grade and I send homework home each Monday. I send a packet that is due back on Friday. The students have a spelling list (15 regular words and 5 bonus words) with 2 sentences that are graded for capitalization and punctuation, math practice, language arts practice, spelling practice, and a reading log. The students have all work and should spend about 30 min. per night plus 20 min. reading. I have found this works great allowing the students the entire week. Parents can work the homework into their schedule instead of daily. I hope this helps. My district does not have homework guidelines.
