homework

It is a pain only because we can not give quality homework because it might go over the allowable time. I teach at a middle school so we can only give 15-20 minutes for each class. You also have to deal with parents helping| students, some will help some will not. you have to assume they get no help at home. I think they need homework but studies show that in some circumstancea and grades it may not be benicial or there isn't enough research for 6th graders to have homework. I think it creats responsibility. I also think that for elem students, they should have independent reading every night for 20 | |
minutes, math and writing. I try to give homwork twice a week and ongoing long term assignments with goals and due dates. I teach social studies 6th grade. I don't enjoy grading homework so I have them grade them in class as a review.
