ok, i guess you're definitely right. i guess the thing is i read a book a little while ago about kids in harlem and some of them said that the only reason they turned to drugs or gangs was because everybody did and they didnt know they could even try to live a different life...it's weird that a teacher suggested the pen pal idea though. do you have any ideas about how i could do something to help? when i go to college next year i'm going to join a group that goes to middle and high schools and tutors kids for school and for sats and stuff...i want something to do until then, and i live about two hours away from any big cities, so i couldn't go visit or anything. it's so frustrating wanting to do something but not knowing how or what!
