I think your heart is in the right place, but...well...how would you feel if someone from France wrote YOU a letter and told you that you could improve your life if you worked hard and that there was hope for you yet? You might just consider writing someone from the inner city to see how his or her life is different - not to pity him. Tread carefully. People who live in different circumstances don't necessarily consider them worse than yours.
