parent observations
By Chicago Teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
I have no problem with parents observing in my classroom as long as I have notice ahead of time - and I tell my parents that in my first newsletter of the year. Occasionally I'll have a parent or two early in the year, but usually not too many. In fact, there are some parents that I would LOVE to have come observe for a day to see how their kids behave. *I try to find out, if I can, the reason the parent wants to come in to class. Usually they won't just tell me, but by asking some questions I can figure out if it is to observe their child, to observe me as a teacher, to get a better idea of what their child does all day, to nit-pick the behavior of some other child, etc.
