Clip to ScrapBook
I teach 6th and 7th grade, and I know that they like to fidget; however, it is hugely distracting to me while I'm teaching to look around the room and see people spinning pencils, taking pens apart, etc. I feel like they could show some respect and at least pretend to be listening. I don't think my classes are all that boring, either...They just are fidgety all the time. I used to always ask them to stop, but that's even more disruptive than fidgeting. Now I just take their pen/pencil and set it to the side while I'm teaching. That way they know it bothers me, and they usually stop (at least temporarily).
