Inhuman Treatment By Betsy

If you really like substituting, you should find another district altogether. IMMEDIATELY, or do something entirely different. A message needs to be sent. I have never heard of such universally bad treatment. When I started| substituting, it was in a district where, although things were reasonable, the teachers and secretaries were not that helpful or friendly, and furthermore the morale of the whole district was not good. In retrospect, I atribute that to the fact that staff was not happy with the top administrators. Then a few months later, I started subbing in a district in the town next door, and man, | | what an improvement. There are always the few exceptional schools that one finds they do not want to go to, but for the most part it is very professional and friendly. After I made connections, I accepted fewer and fewer assignments at the original district and stopped with them altogether. In the current district, it is computerized and you either get called, or you can call in ahead of time and pick and choose assignments. I must add, that, due to competetiveness and current job market, one must be a fully credentialed teacher to now get on the list. In the old district, a lady used to call, and say rather crassly, "Can you work today, or whatever day it happened to be. I would then say, "it depends on what you have."
