gov't comparison
By richem

Clip to ScrapBook
Sorry I took so long to respond. As the structure of fed and state govs is very similar, I decided to divide my class into the three branches of gov't (legislative, executive & judicial). I also gave them a proposed law to consider. Each branch is required to investigate the powers of their branch and how their branch functions. They then must decide whether their law should be passed and make a presentation describing how their branch would enact or defeat their law. They will then switch branches and repeat the process for a new law. When they are done, we will then explore the diffs between state & fed. It's too early to tell how successful this will be, but they seem excited about it. I'll let you know how it works out.
