I Agree!!!

I definitely agree with Reese, your favorites are the best choices. I always prefer a book that I enjoy reading and I love to pass that along to the students. Read alouds are a completely separate part of the curriculum and you should choose what you feel comfortable.

Short picture books are great for the seasons if you want to read one during the four times of the year. Another good idea for teaching writing is to use a book, but not as a read aloud to be continued over a long period of time. Use an excerpt from a book to show the students the writing you will be working on. For example, if you were teaching repetition, you might read part of "When I Was Young in the Mountains" by Cynthia Rylant as an example.

Hope this helped.
