tattling

I have an old telephone in my room that my students use to tattletell. When they come to me i ask are you bleeding or dying no is usually the answer. i then direct them to the phone. they have realized how silly thy look talking to a phone.
a few years ago i traced a big ear from the overhead onto a poster board and hung that. when the students wanted to tattle they had to go tell the ear. it stopped the tattling because it was taped to a wall. i named it miss tattle the sign said ms tattle, tell me your tattle i'll listen.
