Noise Level
By Rosemary

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi, I too am a second year teacher who is struggling with the noise. Last year's class was very good at staying on task. This year's kids cannot stop talking. I took an idea from my nieces's teacher. I write the words
FUN FRIDAY on the board. If the class misbehaves or gets too noisy I erase a letter. As long as all the letters are on the board we have a half hour of FUN FRIDAY activities at the end of the day on Friday. Every time we transition from one activity to another I award a point to the table that is ready first. THe group with the most points on Friday has first choice of the activities
on FUN FRIDAY. THey can use the flash cards, play a fraction game, write a story or letter, use the story or poem magnets, read a book or do word puzzles. They do a much better job settling down now and the noise level is much more managable.
