Buddies

Our school has a focus on heroes, and also one on character education. We have read different picture books about heroes, and had the kids do a short project tying back to a trait that hero had. For example, after reading a book on Martin Luther King, they might illustrate one of their dreams and write a sentence about it. Our first activity is going to focus on the character trait of friendship. We are going to interview each other and hear the book We Are All Alike, We Are All Different. We have also been Passport Pals in the past and focused on a folk tale from another country, and we have done author studies together like read a Tomie DePaola book and do a project on it.
