I also teach kids with behavior problems and a great book that I use ALL the time is "The Teacher's Encyclopedia of Behavior Management 11 problems/500 plans" by Randall S. Sprick and Lisa Howard. This book is great.

Another
thing I do is teach behaviors- we focus on learning a behavior until the students have mastered it- such as sitting in their seats, how to sit, when to sit, what you need to do if you NEED to get up- we teach the behaviors like you would teach anything else. Pick the most troublesome behavior and work on that first- make sure the students know what you are working on and why- you
can do lots of fun things while teaching the behaviors. We focus very little on academics until the students know how to behave in class. Another thing that works wonders in positive reinforcement! It is so amazing how much these kids respond to praise so the second you catch someone doing any little thing that you like make a huge deal out of it!
