Hurricane
By Nikki

Clip to ScrapBook
The school that I work at (Lewis Anna Woodbury Elementary) had all three hurricanes, Charley, Frances, and Jeanne pass right over them. We are in Fort Meade, FL (Polk County). We are a very small town that many people have
never heard of, much less could tell you where it is! We have missed 14 days of school due to hurricanes.
Our 4th grade class is probably at least double yours. We have 5 classes, with 20 in each class at least. Except for mine, I've had lots of withdrawals and only have 15 currently. We have a high hispanic population as well as several migrant students.
We have had a
few schools already across the country help us with supplies, etc... as your school would like to do. We have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of help and generosity from people who don't even know us.
Our students are dealing well with all of the chaos this year! We have had "5 first days of school!" The teachers are more stressed than the kids trying to get caught up!
We have set up a student welfare account for all of the donations we have received and have been able to provide for several of the children that needed help.
If you would like to connect with our school I'd be happy to arrange something with you. Just let me know!
