fluency center
By Virginia

Clip to ScrapBook
One thing I do in my fluency center is provide a passage of about 200 words. The student takes the passage to his/her seat and reads it independently getting help for any unknown words. Then the child reads it to two other classmates. After each reading the classmate signs the back of the passage. Then when the child reads it to me it is a timed reading and we see how many words the child reads in one minute. It is amazing how quickly the number of words read per minute is increasing with these brief fluency lessons. I change the passage each Monday.
