This isn't a short-term solution, but I have seen that my kids' money saavy is getting better. I make counting change or making change part of my math meeting board. The kids either have to make a certain amount of money using the least amount of coins, or count the coins I leave in the coin cup. Then, we count the money together EVERY day. This constant money refresher really helps them.
