AR
By Lori

Clip to ScrapBook
Renaissance, the parent company of AR firmly states that the goal for AR comprehension should be an average of 85% for the period begin considered. If the student is achieving 100% average than the books are too easy for
them.

We do the Book It program in conjunction with our AR program. We set the goals per AR recommendations. They have a goal setting chart on their site, I believe. If you are using AR, do you have access to the Star Test to evaluate the student's ZPD levels? We use this test to determine what level books the students should be reading and then use that to determine the points required

for a period when reading in class 30 minutes a day. An 85% average is always the goal for comprehension.

Each student's goal is individualized for that student. We do not post points achieved, but the %of goal achieved. Everyone's goal should be achievable since it is individualized and therefore, every student who puts forth the effort should at least be making around 90% of their goal if we have set it correctly.

Hope that helps.

Good luck,
Lori
