impulsive child
By Kim C

Clip to ScrapBook
I have a girl in my class that is hitting and pushing, etc. It's not that she doesn't care though. She just can't help it. I've met with mom and she sees the same behavior at home with siblings. I am going to try a kushi
ball and I'm hoping that if her hands are busy she won't be hitting, etc. She's a smart girl. I only hope that it isnt too distracting for her or the others. I remove her from the group and have her sit in back of the class in a chair. She has to "Earn" her spot back on the rug, which is right in front of me. I have also had a student sit on an inflatable disc. You can use a beach
ball and inflate it one-third of the way. The child needs to apply pressure to sit and this keeps them in their seat. Gives a place for their energy too!
