working during college
By Tisa

Clip to ScrapBook
I am a student teacher, wife, and mother of one. I worked two jobs while going to school until I got to my methods courses. I was fortunate enough that my husband took a job where I didn't have to work for the last year.

When I was working, I worked at an elementary school during the day, cleaned houses on the weekend and before class, and went to night school. It was tiring, but worth it! You might also try substitue teaching on days you do not have class. It pays pretty well, and gives you classroom experience.
During the summer months, check to see if your local iibrary is hiring. Our hires summer
help for children's programs. Also keep tutoring kids in mind it can pay $10 to $20 an hour!
Whatever you decide to do, try to get experience working with children since you are going into teaching.
