40 - 30 minutes everyday

My students have Independent reading 40-30 a day. (We have announcements about 10-15 minutes into it. I feel that it interrupts the flow so I have given them the added time.)

I also read aloud 10 to 15 minutes a day.

I teach literature circles. We meet 2x a week. These are heterogenous groups.

I will give guided reading whole class lessons this quarter on non fiction. I am going to use text books, Highlights, Reader's Digest, stories.

I use the 4 Block approach to balanced literacy. I will be flexible, and take time from the blocks if I feel I need more time in the writing block, say from the word block. However, I always have that independent reading time.
