Clip to ScrapBook
I started a long term sub job in a 6th grade classroom. I can relate to everything in your post, and I need a lot of help too.

Because I am having so much trouble getting the kids to come in and settle down I decided to have bell work. Each day the students will have a writing prompt. Five minutes after the bell rings I collect their work. If they don't turn it in when I ask for it it is late.

This is work they would have to do anyway that I wasn't going to count as a grade, but since I need a way to settle them down I thought I would try it.

I don't know if it will work yet because I only started it yesterday, but I am hoping that they will see that I mean business.
