This is one Florida teacher on the East coast between Vero and the Cape and I have had it up to my ears - we have lost 11 school days..the stress of packing up not only your classroom to prepare but your house....putting up plywood, taking it down so you can get some daylight into the house and not feel like you live in a cave....putting it back up again, taking it down....boxing up your valuables over and over again, sleeping on the floor in shelters, not having electricity and AIR CONDITIONING for days on end in high 80 degree weather. I feel so bad for my little 20 month old...we just sold and moved into a brand new home between Frances and Jean, he slept in a shelter several nights, moved to a new home slept here for a few days, slept on the floor in our laundry room while Jean shook our house for what seemed like an eternity, slept on the floor in our old house because it still had air conditioning and we hadn't closed on it yet and then finally back in his own bad just in the last day.
New house has water damage and we now have mold growing on the baseboards...argghhhhhh...I think Florida residents are just weary and look like deer in headlights right now....LOTS OF HUGS AND WELL WISHES to everyone who has gone through this unreal time
