centers
By Brooke S.

Clip to ScrapBook
I do not grade the work that is completed at centers. I check the work to make sure it is completed, but I see it as more of a practice assignment rather than a grade for assessing what the students knows. I work on phonics skills, and pre reading activities such as predications, character, plot, setting, etc. and then we read a story. After reading, we discuss the story and the students answer questions. I change it up depending on the group I am meeting with. Not all of my groups do the same thing. I like center time because I have a chance to really target teaching that is leveled for what the students are capable of completing. I also like having one day per week to teach whole group, so I can focus on more in depth language arts skills.
