PTO Meetings

I worked at different schools.
The first school--
I was a new teacher and was given the heads up by a fellow teacher that I must attend ALL PTA mtng. If you didn't attend you would be called into the office and asked
by the principal why you weren't there.I raised my eyebrows and she said seriously you had better be there. I went and it wasn't too bad.
Second school--
This school requires teachers to attend the first one. The first mtng is meet the teachers night.The teachers are introduced at the meeting. So you have to attend.And we are strongly encouraged to attend one other for a total of

two.The principal says they raise a lot of money for the school and we have to support the HSA.They call it Home School Association.Okay, Fair enough.So I attend.The meetings are a lot of talk about fund raisers and volunteering.When a meeting is over I mill with the crowd and exit. LOL It's always good to keep moving with the crowd to the door so you don't get trapped by a parent wanting to talk about Johnny's math grade. Smile,nod hello and keep walking.
