Tattling
By Fran

Clip to ScrapBook
I never told you it was an accident - I don't work at your school - I don't know anything about this incident. I am "not" still trying (never did) tell you that it was an accident.

I thought it was a "what if" situation.
What if a student spits, what if a student coughs or sneezed into another student's face - what if it was deliberately done . . . And what if it wasn't deliberately done - but an accident? Should this be a situation that should always be told to parents regardless of if it was deliberately done or on accident? To each their own.

I think you're addressing anon in parts of your post

instead of me - in terms of me stating "there was a parent on the playground and she was appalled." I read it that the co-worker (she) was appalled that this could happen especially since a parent was on the playground to possibly witness it - therefore she run to the principal and told.

Anyone who works with people who respect them enough to speak to them about a problem before taking it to the next level (the principal) is one lucky person working in an environment where each person can grow and learn from each other - - rather than being in an environment that one constantly has to watch ones own back for the next person to strike and "tattle" on them whether it's a "tattle" that needs to be reported (there are some that the principal needs to know about) or a "tattle" that's main purpose/objective is to attempt to establish and maintain the "pecking" order of power between staff members with the principal. No principal enjoys hearing these petty "tattles" except mine who loves conflict and loves yelling without listening to the whole story but the first version of the story - told by the tattler.

It's kind of like reporting an accident with the insurance companies. The first one who reports it - the report is written/filled in. The second one who reports it, hey, the report has already been written/filled in with the information given by the first caller. Very little chance that changes are made to the report. . . Sometimes it pays to phone in the report to the other person's insurance company first.

As you said, I'm done discussing this also.
