football data to teach stem and leaf
By Nikki

Clip to ScrapBook
what i do to teach stem and leaf is go to nfl.com and click on stats, 2003 regular season, and I see a list of the teams. I click on any team, and write down their scores for each of the 16 games in 2003 (the score on the left). I do that for a bunch of teams. I give one set of data with the team name to a group of two students and they make a stem and leaf on a half sheet of chart paper. Then the students use them to determine who they think is the best team, and they have to support their answer. you get a lot of different supports and different answers. it is interesting. If you have taught range, median, and mode, you can find those as a follow up activity.
