My kids have LOVED Holes by Louis Sachar! We took the entire grade level to the movies when it was in the theater (325 kids and adults!) and now we have it in our library. Witches by Roald Dahl is okay, and James and the Giant Peach is okay, but both are a bit young. Tuck Everlasting is a good one as well, but the boys have sometimes had a hard time getting into the book.
