A couple of ideas
By Bonnie

Clip to ScrapBook
I know that it can be very frustrating. My class this year tends to talk if they have a second of down time. I do have a couple of small ideas. I have found that if they are having trouble concentrating and paying attention,
I take short breaks in the middle of things. It may seem like rewarding the talking, but if they know there will be a break in a few minutes, sometimes they will be quieter. Sometimes they need the change of pace and some movement or activity to conentrate again. So we get up and do a few exercies or sing a song or play a short game. The other idea is to speak in a different voice
from time to time. It gets their attention. I may lower the pitch of my voice, whisper, or use a higher voice for a few seconds. They stop talking to see what is going on.

Good luck.
