You might consider asking another teacher if you could come help out in their room. Usually they will say yes. It's a great way to see how the "teacher" conducts class and you can learn a lot by observing and chatting with the teacher. Plus, it doesn't hurt as far as being recognized as a team player and willing to help out.

If you have just one prep, that is usually for you. Use the time to organize the classroom, go over the rest of the lesson plans, correct papers or read a book.
