I heard a teacher claim one time that she showed her class some of the "Magic School Bus" science videos and then discussed them in terms of "literature". Then, the students were given an opportunity to explain the current science topic as if writing a Magic School Bus story or a script for a MSB science video. It sounds like fun, especially if your intent is to have them write about science content often.
