Personal Narratives

It took me a long time to catch on to what a personal narrative was, but over the summer I decided their first writing piece would be a personal narrative about an event during their summer vacation. Once I figured out what a personal narrative was I noticed that all the books I've been reading over the years are just that. Our teachers are very fond of Patricia Pollaco whose stories are all personal narratives. I have also found Cynthia Rylant is writing personal narratives--the story we read to model was When the Relatives Came. We used the story to model sequence. Relook at old favorites, they're probably personal narratives.
