power point By ffirst teacher

I am not certain I would say first graders cannot do power point. I think it depends on how complicated you are talking and how much technology you integrate into your lessons. I have my first graders create power point| slides that I then move into a presentation. For example, they create a slide for dental health--a bulleted list of two or three healthy teeth rules on one side and a clip art picture on the other side. Then I move everyones slide into a "Power Point Book" for us to watch. As you can see they are not "doing" a power point presentation but they are creating a power point slide. My students | | are expected to do much more than use the mouse and turn the computer on and off. I am responsible for introducing Excel and providing multiple opportunities for them to do some word processing, insert clip art, save and retrieve files, go out on the web (supervised only), and use the microphone to record audio. I have found my students rise to meet the standard I, or my district, sets. Not long ago I thought this list would be impossible, but my students have proved me wrong. Try power point slides, it might be as bad as you think.
