Long term By Tara

My first experience as a substitute landed me in a classroom of Emotional and Behavior disorder special ed high school kids! These kids were so "off the wall" that their class was in a different building as the other kids.| The police had to be called to the place at least 3 times a week, and once my computer was hurled across the room at my head! HOWEVER, this being said, it was the best experience of my life. I learned to make plans, make tests, teach 5 subject matters, schedule EVERYTHING for everyone, manage my paras, hold parent conferences......I made it through the semester, and went on to get my masters | | degree in this field. I moved to Savannah, GA where I began teaching in this area full time. There are good things about a long term job...much better pay for one, and for another it is a change to see how you like that particular field. If you are like me, it can open your eyes to teaching something that you never thought you would.
