subj/pred
By KT

Clip to ScrapBook
My class was struggling too. I did a hands on activity that seemed to clarify the idea for some. I wrote some sentences on sentence strip paper and cut them between the subject and predicate. I put magnets on the back and posted them (out of order)on the white board. Then the kids helped me put them back together into sentences that made sense. In order to make sense each needed a subject and a predicate. You could also use a pocket chart. Additional strips could be made for additional center practice or remedial review. I find that 3rd graders sometimes still need hands on. I agree with the last poster that when you use the kids names they are often more motivated.
