I tried the boxing technique and I liked it a lot. If you're looking at this board can you answer a question? How do you handle a problem such as 7008-413 when they can subtract from the ones immediatley? Do the children get confused?

And thinking ahead. Do you have a similar easy way to communicate as the kids attempt 2-digit multiplication.
